On-line Help in Choosing and Operating Field Recorders

Help is available in choosing and operating digital recorders for your fieldwork.

Doug Boyd, Director of Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky, is in the process of putting together informational videos on some of the more popular portable field recorders. These videos are available on the Nunn Center website under the RESOURCES tab. http://www.uky.edu/libraries/nunncenter They are also available on YouTube via the Nunn Center's channel: http://www.youtube.com/nunncenter and will soon be available on the Oral History Associations website. The point of these informational videos is to present the recorders to the folklore/oral history audience and to serve as more than simply a review. These videos walk you through basic setup and recording on the machine and they run about 5-8 minutes in length. We currently have two videos up: the Marantz PMD 671 and the Marantz PMD 661. This weekend we will have up the Zoom H2, the M-Audio Microtrack II as well. Here is the full list of recorders that we will feature.
